Are you spending more money to try to be green? Would it be easy for you want to buy eco-friendly products wisely and save your wallet? I don't want to spend money to buy expensive organic products for the sake of green. I waste more time to browse the internet, magazines and books to learn to be green. I was wrong to think going to be green only meant for the rich people because of the expensive eco-friendly products. Now, I had a chance to review a wonderful book, "The Lazy Environmentalist on a Budget" This book is great to read who wants to save money, time and planet instead of doing many research of looking for eco-friendly products. This book comes in handy will guide you and your family to be more green and save money. In this first chapter of this book, I love to read simple mantra, "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" also called "The 3RS" for environmental activities. The 3RS will advise you to buy less, reuse more and recycle products in your daily activities. With this book, you can easily learn to be green as it has more suggestions on environmental eco-friendly activities, website links for purchasing eco products like eco fashion, jeans, watch, accessories, kids stuff and much more.

I have a hard time giving up the non-green things that I'm used to, such as using paper towels and buying a bottle of water sometimes. Old habits are hard to break!

I'm trying to get more and more items into the recycle bin, but sometimes the kids dump stuff into the garbage, and when it's filled, I dont want to dig thru! BUT, I do have to say they are getting excited about recycling, as they are learning so much about it in school!

Before becoming pregnant, I was working towards greening my life. Now that I'm a mom, I don't have time to look for the greenest products, or find ways of being green. I'm all about reducing and reusing, so to me that means buying less. After the baby, we've been buying a whole lot of stuff that is not green, although much of it can be reused. I'm also finding it hard to finding good reliable cleaning green cleaning products. Baking soda and vinegar doesn't always cut it.
i try not to buy plastic bottles but when we are out and i am out of water, i will buy some. but i will reuse them as long as i can and then make sure they end up in our recycling bin.

My hardship is just that I'm resistant (lazy!) to change. I've gotten a bunch of reusable bags for groceries, but keep forgetting to return them to the car. Of the last 50 times I've been to the grocery store, I probably only had them 5 times. That's a lot of plastic!

Recycling is complicated. First its a lifestyle choice. Have to congratulate yourself because its become automatic to sort items into recycle bin. I did go to the township website and read what they will accept and how we have to sort them.
Then, it still isn't right. During pickup they carefully removed the pool chemical containers and left them on the lawn. The bottles are clearly marked as being recyclable. The one contained basically baking soda except all they saw was pool store markings and rejected it like it contained toxic chemicals. they also won't recycle anything that doesn't have a 'neck'. So regardless the 1 or 2 recycling mark on the bottom, anything with straight sides is rejected.
It seems that the recycling should be the easier part of being green.

Our biggest hardship is what to do about the water situation, we all love bottled water and don't want to add to the landfills any further, yet our own tap water is lousy. I'm just not sure what is the cheapest, safest, most environmentally friendly way to solve our water situation...

i'm trying to use less plastic in my life, but our waste management refuses to pick up garbage that is not in a tied garbage bag.
allegro966@yahoo.com
its a battle especially with my husband who thinks its all baloney and i would love to take a plastic bag and tie it around his head so he can experience what animals go thru when it gets over their heads and they cannot take it off....so biggest battle is husband cooperating
The Bottle Water BottlesAre KILLING US. Love Too Win This.
our challenge is to recyle . we need to do this more mverno@roadrunner.com
My big problem is something other people do. We have a recycling dumpster at work and people break into it and leave the wrong kind of trash. It drives me insane. I pay extra and try to do good, but am constantly sabotaged.
I planted an organic garden, but it has not really produced much. People keep telling me that I need to put this or that on it, but I want to keep it organic.

It's tricky to recycle because it only gets collected every two weeks and they don't make it easy to do paper, cardboard, etc. We have to put everything in paper bags but only two bags fit in the container! I'd love to recycle more but it's hard here.

My big thing is "reduce" the first of the 3 R's, and I think the most important one. Reducing the number of things we purchase, reducing the number of plastic bags, reducing the consumption of water and electricity. Things are there for our convenience, we can certainly do without them, but it makes our lives easier with them around. However, the more convenient something is, the more we waste.
I love to recycle and this book will help and answer some questions.

Okay, so maybe this isn't a hardship to some, but going to the recycling place is tough. It's in a very industrial, very rural area. The road isn't paved and there is lots of heavy machinery. I hate going. But I do. It's my biggest hardship.
The hardship is realizing how many things can be switched over and the cost associated with that switch

It's hard for me when I see that the school district doesn't have a vegetarian option in the schools and I need to send my son with his own lunches and it's sometimes hard to find green options when it comes to making sure his lunch is wrapped correctly.

With three preschool children in our family, it's often frustrating to find Green practices that don't take up too much of our precious energy! But slowly we're getting there--and hopefully modeling for our kids that it's something we care about.
My biggest concern/issue is just finding products that are green that work really well.
Thank you for the chance
tatertot374@sbcglobal.net
I am old and it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but my kids are really pushing me.
I started cloth diapering my 2nd child (she's 8 now) and had a heck of a time figuring out the best system to use to make it simple, convenient and economical. Luckily, the internet was a wealth of information and I stuck with it and cloth diapered my 3rd child too. :)
Being green seems to involve more time, effort and funds than I have sometimes, but I keep trying.

I wonder if my recycling is actually being recycled at the other end!
theyyyguy@yahoo.com
Our car broke down and we ended up having to go buy a new one so now we have 410 a month payments, we had not had before, the car we got however is better on gas and such, But we have noticed we have to buy more in bulk and we garden now as well to help even out the grocery bill.
This might sound a little different, but one of the biggest problems I'm having is disposing of used kitty litter. I live in the city so I have to bag it and put it in a dumpster, so while I do use litter made from recycled material, such as newspaper, I'm not sure how to dispose of it in a green way that won't smell up the neighborhood.
